16th Nov. update breaks Firefox, Thunderbird, [Solved]

Postby dunsurfin » Wed Nov 16, 2011 22:45

SL x86 7 K fully updated.
Today's update of KDE and associated packages (about 450) has caused Firefox, Thunderbird and Chromium to fail. These are the error messages:

[email protected] ~ $ thunderbird
/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird-bin:
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15'
not found (required by /usr/lib/thunderbird/libxul.so)
[email protected] ~ $ firefox
Couldn't load XPCOM.
[email protected] ~ $ chromium
chromium-browser: /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by chromium-browser)

There was also this message during the update of perl but I don't know if it's significant:

Warning: something's wrong at /usr/bin/enc2xs line 1017.
/usr/lib/perl5/5.12.4/Encode
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.3/i686-linux-thread-multi/Encode

Any ideas?

Agreed.... I have the same problems here. Everything else seems ok. I have Opera working fine but not FF, Chromium or Thunderbird...

One to watch!!!

A user from IRC channel solved his problem with firefox with
Code: Select all
equo update && equo install xulrunner

That makes no difference here. It just reinstalls xulrunner with no change.

Dunsurfin'

I have the same issues here too, and tried the above solution. It made no difference here either. I expect "a repair update" will come through in the next day or so. Meanwhile I will use Opera for browsing and pick up my mail via the web...

cheers

Reinstall of libtool made no difference.

I had the same Problem. If you are useing sabayon-weekly repro, you have to remove the sabayon repro (which was accidently activated some time ago) and run the update again. then it should work.

Same problem here, and doing what you suggest will reinstall kde 4.7.2, don't know if it's a solution, in fact... but I will try, maybe everything will go in its place...

I to have same problem. Have tried the solutions proposed with no success.
As far as I can see I do not have the weekly repo enabled, just the "Sabayon Linux Official Repository"
Just started using Sabayon so still finding my way around. Was really quite impressed with it up until know :evil:
