"equo update" question [Solved]

Postby DanneStrat » Sun Nov 06, 2011 13:38

Hi.

I'm using sabayon with the "sabayon-weekly" repo.

I first installed sabayon from a daily iso and it came preconfigured to use the "sabayonlinux.org" repo.

Now here's the thing, I have switched to "sabayon-weekly" in "repositories.conf" and the "official repository id=" is set to "sabayon-weekly" but if I do a:

Code: Select all
equo update --force

then both "sabayon-weekly" and "sabayonlinux.org" repos gets downloaded. Is this the normal behaviour for entropy?

The output is here:

Code: Select all
equo update --force

I still have the local copy of "sabayonlinux.org" in the "/var/lib/entropy/client/database/amd64/" directory if that matters.

Any input on this would be great. :)

how did you change your repositories?

I changed "sabayonlinux.org" to "sabayon-weekly" in repositories.conf.

I also changed "official repostory id=" to "sabayon-weekly" as ypu can see below.

Here's the repositories.conf:

Code: Select all

#
#  syntax for repositories (content in square brackets not mandatory):
#
#    repository: where the available packages and its database are stored
#|    repository = repository_id|repository description|<packages mirror 1> <packages mirror 2> <...>|<database uri>[,<UGC service URI>][#compression_method][#<service port,ssl service port>]
#
#    example (content in square brackets not mandatory):
#|       repository = sabayonlinux.org|Sabayon Linux Official Repository|http://pkg.sabayon.org|http://pkg.sabayon.org[,sabayon.org][#bz2][#1026,1027]

I do not see an issue with your repos, mine is a little different as I use testing and need main ... weekly does not work well with limbo. I just add the main repos, and comment out the weekly. I really think this is the only file you should need to edit to change repos, I would not suggest editing another file.
But here is my file, you can compare with yours and see if you can spot the difference. Other then I have weekly commented out, looks the same to me as far as address goes.

My repositories.conf seems fine with only sabayon-weekly listed.

# syntax for differential-update
# differential-update: This setting controls the way Entropy client updates
#                      its repositories. If you're on a slow/unstable network
#                      it is recommended to disable "differential-update"
#                      in favour of a simple and more reliabile HTTP/FTP
#                      connection. In fact, differential repository updates
#                      are known to cause issues on some networks.
# Valid parameters: disable, enable, true, false, disabled, enabled
# Default is: enabled
# differential-update = enabled

# syntax for developer-repo
#
#  developer-repo: Enable this setting to fetch an extended repository database containing
#                  the whole metadata set (including package ChangeLogs and contents).
#                  Disabled by default.
# Valid parameters: disable, enable, true, false, disabled, enabled

#    product = standard

#    product = professional
#
# Product default setting
product = standard

#
#  syntax for branch:
#
#    branch: in Sabayon Linux each release has its branch that is the version name (eg. 3.4, 3.5)
#    branch = actual branch string (no spaces!)
#
#    example:
#    branch = 4
#    or:
#    branch = 5
#
# Branch default setting
branch = 5

#
#  syntax for official-repository-id:
#
#    official-repository-id: Repository identifier for the official main distribution repository
#    official-repository-id = <repository identifier>
#
official-repository-id = sabayon-weekly

#  syntax for download-speed-limit:
#
#    download-speed-limit: If you need a way to limit download speed, this is the option you were looking for
#    download-speed-limit = <maximum allowed speed in kb/sec>
#
#    example:
#    download-speed-limit = 30
#
# download-speed-limit =

#
#  syntax for downloadtimeout:
#
#    download-timeout: If you are on a slow network, you may want to raise the

#    download-timeout = <maximum allowed speed in kb/sec>

Just now, I tried searching with equo and guess what, I also get duplicate results. For some reason both "sabayon-weekly" and "sabayonlinux.org" repo is being used even if "sabayonlinux.org" is not specified in "repositories.conf".

That's really wierd? This did not happen before the upgrade. I installed upgrades for entropy earlier today.

I'm on weekly too..
Can confirm the issue...
Code: Select all

>> !!! Please update your repositories now in order to remove this message!

running equo update caused download of sabayonlinux.org-repository
Code: Select all

repositories.conf
Code: Select all

official-repository-id = sabayon-weekly

what's up?

what's up?

It's very strange indeed.
I have 50 updates available, but I'm not applying them until I know what's going on.

NOTE: I sent a PM to Joost, the entropy maintainer, so hopefully we can get some info on this.

Stay tuned...

Remove /etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d/entropy_sabayonlinux.org
This was part of the automatic migration to the new repositories.conf.d/ configuration files layout.
