Post by woschdsemml » Mon Oct 31, 2011 0:09

Hi,

I have a hp Pavilion g6 notebook with integrated Intel graphics and a Radeon HD 6470m, but I cannot use my Radeon. :(

fglrxinfo, glxinfo and glxgears do not work, I only get this:

Code: Select all

X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 151 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)

Current serial number in output stream: 12
xorg.conf:

Can anyone help? With other distributions I had problems too (but there glxinfo, glxgears and fglrxinfo worked) - only on Opensuse it worked well.

edit: a step-by-step help would be really nice, I'm quite new to gentoo-based distributions.

I suspect your laptop has hybrid graphic card setup, it is a rather known issue for laptops with this setup to be unable to use the dedicated video card (expecially ATI ones) in a stable way. You should setup your laptop to use the integrated card:

1) run this command to setup the intel drivers:
(as root)

Code: Select all

eselect opengl set xorg-x11
2) edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to use the intel drivers (you have to be root to edit that file):
search for the line, in the Device section containing Driver, edit it like this:

Code: Select all

	Driver "intel"
3) reboot and see if it helps.

Also notice that in your current setup you are trying to use the fglrx drivers while having your xorg.conf stating to use Driver "intel".
