custom locale.gen [Solved]

Post by jancici » Thu Nov 03, 2011 15:15

I did change locale.gen to have English and my mother language there.
Then as run locale-gen.

after that I am getting following error {for example when trying to install vsftp}:

Code: Select all

equo install vsftpd
invalid filesystem encoding ANSI_X3.4-1968, must be UTF-8.
Make sure to set LC_ALL, LANG, LANGUAGE to valid UTF-8 values.
Please execute:
  LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 /usr/bin/equo install vsftpd
Cannot automatically recover from this.
I did try to find solution.
I did reinstall glibc, after that I have ALL world language in locale.gen file.

please, what is the correct way to have only my custom language in system. thanks

See Re: en_GB language missing after install., obviously replacing the keymap code and locale codes with the appropriate ones for your locale.

okay

1) I did edit /etc/env.d/02locale and insert missing lines

2) run env-update && source /etc/profile

and it is okay now, thanks
