S7 user switching fails and goes to blank TTY screen

Post by Cyberai » Mon Oct 31, 2011 1:20

Hello all,

I'm a bit of a newb to Sabayon, but not to Linux in general. So far I am enjoying the distro immensely. However I am noticing that user switching seems to be unstable. About 9 out of 10 attempts to switch between users in Gnome results in the system sending me to a blank TTY screen with a blinking cursor (but not a usable CL). Only once in a while do I actually get the login screen.

I've also noticed a general instability to the GDM. Changing a user password causes that account to fail at login. I have to "pkill -9 X" from a TTY to reset it and make it work. Obviously this is a real pain if I have an active X session going for a different user. Adding or removing users also causes this behaviour. Someone in the IRC channel for Gentoo support recommended updating from GDM 3.2.0 to 3.2.1 as 3.2.0 is generally regarded as buggy.

So is there an update to GDM on the say shortly, and are there any recommended fixes in the meantime?
