Sabayon 7 and rt2860 wireless

Postby Arvigeus » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:04

Hello! All the guides I found about making wireless on my eeepc seem to be outdated. I have rt2860.bin in my /lib/firmware. iwconfig cannot detect it. Any suggestions?

I don't have the same hardware as you, so can only make a suggestion, which is to look at the Gentoo Wiki article on how to get the Ralink RT2860 in the Eee PC working with Gentoo Linux (SL is based on Gentoo).

Cannot compile the module. When I run
make:
Code: Select all
make -C tools
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/arvigeus/2010_07_16_RT2860_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.0/tools'
gcc -g bin2h.c -o bin2h

/home/arvigeus/2010_07_16_RT2860_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.0/tools/bin2h
cp -f os/linux/Makefile.6 /home/arvigeus/2010_07_16_RT2860_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.0/os/linux/Makefile
make -C /lib/modules/3.0.0-sabayon/build SUBDIRS=/home/arvigeus/2010_07_16_RT2860_Linux_STA_v2.4.0.0/os/linux modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-3.0.0-sabayon'

Makefile:567: /usr/src/linux-3.0.0-sabayon/arch/x86/Makefile: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: /usr/src/linux-3.0.0-sabayon/scripts/gcc-goto.sh: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-3.0.0-sabayon/arch/x86/Makefile'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-3.0.0-sabayon'
make: *** [LINUX] Error 2

I guess I'm missing kernel headers. How can I install them if I have no wired connection?

Also, there is no /etc/modules.autoload.d/
