Gnome 3.2 FGLRX Only Failback?

Post by Crypto_ahash » Wed Oct 05, 2011 16:57

Hi,

I have done the full update to Gnome 3.2 with equo. But now I can only get Failback working. The gnome-shell Desktop is apparently not being activated. Anyone knows why?

Edit: I also tried enabling/disabling Force Fallback but still no cookie.
Also is it normal Gnome 3.x shows Graphics Driver: VESA: BARTS ?

We patched gnome-session to do this.
fglrx is broken with gnome-shell.

you can always compile it from portage yourself.

We tested it and it really sucks hard. Also realize that new GDM is very broken with it.
For GDM we ALSO use a fallback.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I was already having some bad fights with my computer getting to try and understand why gnome-shell stopped working hehe.

To be honest the new GDM from gnome 3.2 I really hated. It's a bit ugly.

Will see if I can get it compiled with emerge.

Thanks again.

I cant get it to compile.. No way for you to add a non-patched-gnome-session package into a repository?

Ehm ... How about I want my desktop to work? I cant believe you guys forcing fallback on everyone. Its ridiculous.
If users can not get it to work then let them choose themselfs to use fallback.

Like I tried to explain to you, it also affects GDM.
I can understand you are upset but we decided to workaround it this way for now.
