ATI 11.9 Update Hosed My KDE, Gnome-shell also kaput

Postby hulkyboy » Thu Sep 29, 2011 14:16

64bit Sabayon System
ATi HD4850, Phenom x 4.

Just applied the ATI 11.9 driver update, and now KDE plasmid will die within a few seconds of starting, dumping me back to the login (previously it was fine, bar some artefacting now and then). Failsafe mode does work.
Since 11.9 was allegedly supposed to fix the Gnome-shell issues, I renabled that... now it doesn't work at all, login, and remain with the login screen background and mouse pointer. Gnome still works in fallback mode...

Anybody else having 11.9 issues... ?

Regards

How to help testing:
Install cookbug -> reproduce the crash -> run cookbug directly after (from a shell TTY1)
Open a bug and attach the cookbug report.

This is now solved. fglrx 11.8 has been put back.
(sabayon-weekly users never got this broken 11.9 version)
