XFCE installed, suddenly updated and not working

Postby jaguar1637 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 8:26

Hi

I just installed a fresh installation on a laptop Sony VAIO amd 64b w/ Sabayon Rel 6 XFCE

It worked well during a few days. I got the need to install skype.
So I perform this command:
# equo update conf
# equo install skype

it started to install a bunch of packages (like open-office, python, dev-lib ... and so on)
during a few hours

the result : - Skype well installed
but, I can not any more log in on the XFCE session. I put the login / password
, not display the desktop and comes back to the proposal of login/password w/o notice

What happened while installing the packages ? Why equo installs those packages and let my session unavailable at system restart ?

How should I proceed now ? Should I need to remove all the packages installed ?
I do not understand what happening

Another question => What should I do to install a new Window manager ?

What I just performed to solve this problem by myself ?

I restart the installation and formating only the /, /boot, /var and /tmp file-systems

and it works again

My login is on /home

so... I dunno if I may try to install skype again w/ "equo install skype"
