Permanently removing Virtualbox [Solved]

Postby lourens » Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:57

Hi,

I've done "equo remove --deep --configfiles app-emulation/virtualbox-bin app-emulation/virtualbox-modules app-emulation/xf86-video-virtualbox app-emulation/ app-emulation/open-vm-tools-kmod" and run a "grep -r " in /etc/for anything Virtualbox (none found) yet Sulfur inssists on re-installing Virtualbox during the Update phase ?

I'm running x86_64 that is up-to-date.

Any help with this will be appreciated.

Thanks

Could you try to run:
Code: Select all
equo deptest --ask

And provide the output before your answer?

Would you like to install the available packages ? [Yes/No]

Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

I have installed kvm using Sulfur and did allow the missing from equo deptest --ask to be installed.

equo upgrade --ask still wants to install the following:

# (7/26) [sabayonlinux.org] app-emulation/virtualbox-modules-4.0.10#3.0.0-sabayon
>> Versions: Not installed / NoTag / NoRev ===> 4.0.10 / 3.0.0-sabayon / 0

# (23/26) [sabayonlinux.org] x11-drivers/xf86-video-virtualbox-4.0.10#3.0.0-sabayon
>> Versions: Not installed / NoTag / NoRev ===> 4.0.10 / 3.0.0-sabayon / 0

yet

# (1/1) [sabayonlinux.org] app-emulation/virtualbox-bin-4.0.10-r1
>> Versions: Not installed / NoTag / NoRev ===> 4.0.10-r1 / NoTag / 0

??

:(

Could you post the output from this command?
Code: Select all
equo query installed virtualbox

Maybe there is some virtualbox package installed for other kernels and it will pull them back in.

Thank you very much!

I needed to do a 1x iteration of "equo remove --deep --configfiles virtual-box-modules xf86-video-virtualbox"
followed by 1x iteration of "equo remove --deep --configfiles virtualbox-modules"
More than one version of virtualbox-modules was on this machine ??

Enjoy your weekend.

Some modules depend on the kernel, so if you have many kernels installed, you must have many versions of the modules.

Thank you, enjoy your weekend too :)
