Do I need swap partition? [Solved]

Postby apiaio » Sun Jan 16, 2011 20:00

Hi there.
I have purchased the new PC with i5 processor, 8GB RAM, one classical HD and one 32GB SSD. I want to install SL using
Sabayon_Linux_SpinBase_5.4_amd64.iso on SSD.
Does exist any reason why should I create swap partition when so big RAM is available? And if yes, on which disc?
Thanks

I don't think you need it.

Only if you want to hibernate to disk (and even then you could hibernate to a file rather than swap, if you wanted to), but your spec. looks like a desktop to me, so I doubt you'll be wanting to hibernate to disk somehow.
