XSEESION ERRORS

Postby vini9656 » Mon Nov 13, 2006 0:28

After some updates I get the error your session lasted only 10/secs or you have not logged your self out? Need some help, please.

I have tried rm ~/.ICEathority with no results and also tried rm ~/.Xauthority-----> which was the old fix for this problem. Civil or Sabayon & fellow forum members what would you suggest!!!!

Thanks in advance for your help

All you have to do is a glsa-ckeck -f all and you will get this error. Can not login to gnome your seesion lasted only 10 secs or you have not logged your self out.. However, I can login to kde.

Thanks

This is with out doing an ect-update. Just run a glsa-check -f all an you will see. Why are we going back and forth on this. I would like to know how to fix it. Thats the trouble with gentoo always have to fix something to keep system running.

Thanks

because my glsa-check is going to be different from yours since I have different packages installed, please answer the question on which packages you updated and if you need to do an etc-update (does emerge say cfg packages need updating)

The reason it seems like its going back and forth is coz you're not answering my questions

I do not see how you can have different packages installed. If you burn the Sabayonlinux 3.1 dvd and install it to a hard drive partition you have to have the same packages on a fresh install.
Do glsa-check -f all and even with out doing etc-update or dispatch-conf you will end up with xssession-errors trying to log into gnome. The only thing I have done other then this is to replace the kdm login manager with gdm. However, I can still lof into kde.

Thanks for your time;

first try changing rc.conf back to using kdm and see what happens, let's see if its gdm that's complaining about it only
