Supported WMs with AIGLX/Beryl?

Postby Cinder6 » Wed Oct 25, 2006 20:22

What WMs/DEs are compatible with AIGLX and Beryl? Is there any way to get E17 working with them? Sorry if this is answered elsewhere...

Hi - E18 will apparently have a native compositing manager; but till then E17, tho' it will run on AIGLX, will not work w/ Beryl . . there is an non-openGL E17 compositing manager called: 'Bling' but this of course cannot do those effects requiring openGL.

e17 using enlightenment as its desktop manager and afaik, not compatible with the beryl composite manager as it uses its own, xfce and gnome and kde are fine

Alright, thanks. Looks like it's XfCE for me, then. (Already found a tutorial for that)

Actually, it turned out that XfCE ran with beryl automagically. :) The only problem is that it the pager is squished for some reason, and you can't drag windows through the pager either (actually, I have this problem in KDE, too; not sure if it's a beryl issue or not). This is on x86_64.
