I was using gentoo a while ago and I loved the performance of it in my machine, specially because I was able to play Oblivion on wine with a reasonable speed. But after I tried to use an "emerge --update --deep world" my system has stopped working. Now I'm having lots of trouble to reinstall it because some packages don't compile anymore and I don't know why.
Then I wanna know if Sabayon Linux has the option to I use the portage distfiles folder - that is where I have 8 GB of source code - to recompile the hole system with my processor's specific flags.
However if there is another way to optimize my system, please let me know.
On Gentoo I was using these flags on my make.conf:
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=amdfam10 -pipe"
DISTDIR=/home/portage/source # A separate partition where I put the files, so I can then even after erasing all the system.
Is there a way to use it on Sabayon?
