Im runing synapse and it has a great visual but it is crashing a lot. I dont know if its a installation problem however i dont recommend to include it on the repository until it works correctly

What about otherone jabber client? Which one would you use ? (Anyone supports videoconference? )

I'm not surprised it crashes, as it's not even beta software, it's still an alpha release.

Anyway, hopefully someone will recommend an alternative, more stable package to you. Which desktop environment do you want to use it with? KDE? GNOME?

Nobody got back to you, huh?

Oh well. I don't use any Jabber-compliant IM clients myself (I'm strictly a Skype user), but you could have a look at the list of XMPP-compatible IM clients on the official Jabber -- now called Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) -- Web site: XMPP Software: Clients.
