I don't get it... why is this happening now? It didn't happen when I first installed sabayon..

Anyways I tried to follow the instrustions in that link for the multiple sound cards but the example they show looks nothing like my conf... I mean nothing like that is in my conf file not even with different names or anything. This is what Im talking about:
options snd-emu10k1 index=0
options snd-via82xx index=1

I don't have naything that looks like that... this is my conf.

What sort of sound hardware do you have? Take a look at the thread Sound card problem [Solved] in case there is something there that helps, because pepe999 was seeing two sound cards too.

Nothing fancy... just a regular Emachine Desktop. Although the hardware might not be the same since once it broke down and my technician changed everything... but heres a screenshot of the soundcards that appear when I run alsaconf.

I always see that legacy thing too when I run AlsaConf, so I don't think it's something you need to worry about. But have you had a look at the article in the SL Wiki: HOWTO: Resolve Problems with HDA-Intel Sound Cards?

EDIT: From your screen snapshot it looks like you have the same audio controller as mine, so you should be able to get it working:
Code: Select all
# lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)

I didn't have to do anything apart from the usual AlsaConf/AlsaMixer stuff, but perhaps working through the SL Wiki article will help you get yours working.

So if we got the same sound card... whats the model? Isin't it ICH7? After doing the first few steps of that guide things got weird... I tried to do alsaconf to at least get the sound working temporarily like I use to do and it said it configure fine but the sound still doesn't work and the little speaker on my panel no longer appears... I wonder why this happened, when I did my fresh install it was all good...

Thanks
