cannot setup printer driver [Solved]

Postby karn » Sun Oct 18, 2009 13:54

Hi, I am a new linux user. I have just installed sabayon 5.0 (KDE).

I'm trying to setup my network printer (HP LaserJet 1320) that is connected to
Print server (D-link DP-300U). I select "LPD/LPR Host or Printer" and enter host ip and queue.
I found my printer model but when I click the "OK" on "New Printer" page,
there is a popup "The password may be incorrect.".

I do not set any password in print server. What should I do?

Thank you
karn

It sounds like your trying to set your printer using the systemsettings application ... you need to run it as root ... try using
Code: Select all
kdesu systemsettings
then setup your printer...

I put myself to lp and lpadmin Group also solved the problem. If start "systemsettings" from root-Shell they do nothing. Systemsettings would not opening ??
