Live DVD fails to mount

Postby essenby » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:33

Hi,

I recently downloaded Sabayon 5 (Gnome) and burned it to DVD. The DVD will boot and lauch into Sabayon with no problems on the machine that burned the DVD (Lenovo T60) but on another laoptop (Toshiba A100) it getas as far as :-
Attempting to mount media:- /dev/sr0

and just hangs.

This also happens on my desktop - a Packard Bell iMedia 3055. I used the T60 to burn the DVD but I have also burned other Live CD's on this machine and they have been read perfectly in the other machines,

Is this an incompatibility between CD/DVD dirves or is there something else afoot ???

You should check the md5sum of the downloaded iso, some suggestions are provided in the wiki:

Maybe the downloaded copy is corrupted or there was some error when burning it.

The MD5 checks out fine - and as I said, the disc itself boots and runs Sabayon perfectly on the Lenovo!
