Mounting my HDD

Postby gizmo » Thu Oct 08, 2009 14:24

Hello all.

Ok when I mount my windows HDD to mnt/drive/
The folder drive becomes read-only to root. I have all my music and moves on this drive and do not
want to be running it through root. How can I fix this?

Every outer Linux I have used has never done this, I'm thinking this is done for security but how can I disable it.

Thanks

how are you mounting it?

I like to do things like this with f-stab, so it is auto mounted on each boot

example for mine is

/etc/fstab
Code: Select all
/dev/sda1       /media/WINXP            ntfs-3g  uid=1000,gid=100        0 0

now I have full access to windows XP

gizmo, have a look at the post Re: KDE 4.2 Dolphin automount NTFS on boot which explains how to set up your fstab file correctly for read/write access to NTFS drives. Hopefully that should sort it out.
