Code: Select all
emerge --sync
will setup a database of ebuilds.
And Klik is not the package-manager it is an altenative to download and install software without dependancies(mostly for livecd's).
The genuine package-manager for Gentoo is Portage and his frontend emerge.
Kuroo is a graphical frontend for Portage which will be started by clicking on the desktop-icon "software manager".

But please read the documentation. It taught me how to use Portage.

Most users will work with Portage through the emerge tool.
