Sabayon 4.1 kernel panic x86 64-bit

Post by gixxer99 » Tue Aug 18, 2009 18:50

I am new to linux and have been using Sabayon 4.1 for about a month. Installed on a HP Pavilion ZV 6000 laptop. Was working fine then it just started locking up. Could move the mouse but no apps or menus would open. Rebooted (by holding power button) and on boot gets error message: 5.209116 kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root FS on unknown block (1,0). System will not boot into Sabayon. Does anyone know a fix for this using a live CD?

You may try to repair with the sabayon installer it self. VBoot with the DVD sabayon, installer etc... when the DVD locates installed Sabayon
first choose try to repair only the bootloader, and reboot.
if not, reboot with the DVD, again installer and choose repair broken system...
if the preceding tries fail, is it possible that you file synstem cam bem seriously damaged, in this case, is best to clena re-install it, since the system may be unstable even when possible recover it.
the 4.2 is newer, but the 5 version may be released in nearly a month
