Nice, but I don't think the Gentoo people will agree...

He, He, of course! Another idea, with a king penguin formating the letter "S":

How about:

Yeah, I saw that, too...
That might put a damper on it...

That being said, it was my tongue in cheek attempt at humor.

I think I'll stick to coding;)

Hi,

the problem is that those are not only logos, but also desktop backgounds. I personally always turn off any desktop images, because it's mainly a destraction. I would suggest we have a simple logo without any sophisticated images.

Regards,
Richard.

Just an idea for a logo v.03

Just an idea for a logo v. 02

Just an idea for a logo

I glanced through some suggestions and I personally would chose this logo, actually the first is the best from my point of view. It's simple, pretty colorful, a bit of s shiny glow aroung it.

By the way, do we really have to change the SL themes every time there is a new SL release? My point is why do we spend so much time on things like that when there are still things not working perfectly and need a bit of tweaking?
I really like the last one we have with SL 4.1 and SL4.2 with the new KDE. I especially like the way the X-Window shows the loading of system componnents, I think it's one of the best artwork around Linuxes. I recently downloaded Mandriva 2009.1 and everything it's soooo crappy.

Richard

You're right: the hen's foot is such a distinctive 'trademark' for SL. Good trademarks instantly identify the product, and the hen's foot certainly does that. It's a bit like Red Hat's red hat: there's nothing else like it and you immediately recognise what the logo represents. I used to think the SL logo looked amateurish, but I think your latest version for SL 4.1 and 4.2 looks very nice, and not at all gaudy. Actually, I wonder if people who don't use SL think it is a penguin's footprint? That would not be such a bad misconception for a Linux distribution.
