The stable release boots into Xwindows without any problems, however trying to update the system results in an unstable system with its own set of errors (which I haven't managed to document between installs). I also booted a daily iso from august 2019 without problem (although that also broke after system updates).

I was able to get the latest daily working by installing directly from the "installation" selection, then after install, switching to another terminal, updating the equo repositories, installing the latest nvidia drivers, elselect opengl set nvidia (not sure if that step is needed), then running nvidia-xconfig . After this I could boot sabayon into xwindows. Some fonts are still broken (seems to always happen after an update).

Extra info if that helps:

The daily iso booted into xwindows with my gfx card removed, using the onchip intel gpu also.

Although ive found a solution for myself, I've heard other people suffering similar problems on the IRC channel so it might pay to fix this issue rather than hemmorage new users. Alternatively, maybe someone else who would rather not give up on sabayon can find this information helpful.
