sabayon daily build on dell e6500

Post by inc0 » Thu Jun 10, 2010 10:02

Hi all,

i was wondering if someone managed to install sabayon on a dell e6500.
I'm actually having problems installing sabayon (daily build and 5.3) using graphical (with and without audio) and textual installation: anaconda crashes reporting it can't commit changes to disk (yes it's recognized and i can see all partition using cfdisk).
Any suggestion is welcome, but right now i'm going to try one of the most stupid things i have ever thought: i'm going to try to install sabayon using a stage4 created using a working installation on virtualbox 3.2.

Thanks

I just finished to "install" sabayon as "described" above: the system starts with no errors (even X seems to work) but after I logged in, before I could do anything (i didn't even moved the mouse) the system froze :(
I restarted using ubuntu, chrooted into sabayon system root to read Xorg.log but there were no errors.

I apologized for not posting any information about my hardware but I'm going to fix right now: my laptop is a dell e6500 with an intel GMA 4500 MHD (chipset g45 -> module i915)

Small update: I tried to change desktop manager from gnome to fluxbox and it was working quite well since i decided to run glxgears: as soon i a pressed enter the system froze. Useless to say that in logs (messages, xorg.0.log and dmesg) no errors were reported :(
