16.11 Live CD failings for me

Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 802MHz
ASUS P8Z77-V LX (LGA1155)

Just booted the disc for the first time. Many things seem to work fine, smooth, plenty of power for the desktop anyway. BUT, some things are failing for me. Maybe I just need to learn, but my background is, since the 80s, years on an Amiga, years on a Mac 8500, 15 years on various Windows boxes, and have tried maybe a dozen Linux live discs. I could teach computers to most people.

1. It 'sees' my sound hardware but there's no audible output.
2. It 'sees' my 2 laser printers, Canon and Brother, but won't let me select one and print.
3. The upper-right red Close button on open windows does nothing, have to key Escape.
4. Several other mouse-selection issues. The cursor moves fine and opens windows but then won't select things (icons) inside the windows.

Unless I can fix those, Sabayon can't work for me. Now, onto the whining about optional software. Why am I forced to learn Entropy (or whatever is required) to just install and run Firefox, Thunderbird, SMPlayer and various other available-for-Linux wares? I downed FFox and then couldn't do anything with the tar. ETC.

After installing, open a terminal and gain root access. Then run: equo update. Then run: equo upgrade. Then you can run: equo install firefox.
