Running fsck (filesystem check) is not going to fix a problem with Wi-Fi. The cause lies elsewhere.

So the module is still running and was not blacklisted. Try manually unloading it to see if Wi-Fi starts working:

Code: Select all

# modprobe -r ideapad_laptop

No problem, rebrick49. In Finrod's post on 31 January he stated "No wifi connection now, apart from that it seems to be working fine", so the problem is confined to his Wi-Fi driver by the looks of it.

done it, no visible effect, but the reply to rfkill now is:

ID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD
 2 bluetooth hci0 blocked unblocked
:-(

thanks for the reply, anyway the slowness (well, more than that) was with kernel 4.18 and 4.19, with 4.14 it's all right...but then wifi doesn't work...

Let's try a different tack. Finrod, for the time being remove the line 'blacklist ideapad_laptop' from the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. Reboot and then post here the output of the following command:

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep -i "ath\|firmware"
