Missing Packages from

Post by vDrag0n » Sat Dec 30, 2017 17:39

Hello,

I'm new to Sabayon, generally pretty new to Linux and still trying to set up my new System and configure it.

For my Universal Media Server to work properly I need to install mplayer/mencoder.
As I've seen on the weekly repository and also on the Gentoo Repository I should be able to install mplayer without a problem but when I run:

Code: Select all

equo search mplayer
or

Code: Select all

equo install media-video/mplayer-1.2-r2
It's not finding the package for some reason ... I've already read the wiki but I can't find any hint for this problem.

Would be cool if you guys have any solution for me.

Thanks in advance,

vDrag0n

the package you found is for ARM
https://packages.sabayon.org/show/mplay ... 5,standard

No Mplayer package in Sabayon Repositories

and older x86 architecture.

As player you can run Smplayer or MPV

as server I suggest to configure KODI

Kodi seems to be heavily bloated for a DLNA Mediaserver to me.
I like my Universal Media Server and transcoding stuff on the fly if needed, never had any problems playing something.

I don't know why mplayer is missing in Sabayon Repository
You can try to fill a package request to Sabayon Bugzilla
