Runaway Tracker Process [Solved]

Post by VolvoBirkenstock » Mon Dec 11, 2017 21:22

Hello, Sabayon Gurus!

I updated/upgraded sabayon-weekly yesterday, and have noticed that there is now a continuously running process that is consuming one CPU at 100%: "tracker-miner-fs". I apparently have "Tracker 1.12.3" installed on my system. Can someone please tell me how to regulate/moderate this CPU-consuming behavior? Should I just remove the package?

Thank you very much in advance,
Volvo

I'm sorry this posting has taken so long.
I've been very busy.
The problem apparently resolved itself.
Perhaps it stopped consuming CPU once it had mapped my Universe. :?

Marking as "Solved" without knowing the solution.

I don't run Gnome , but "Tracker" should be file indexer for Gnome. I think you can configure this on Gnome Center (or similar  ) like Baloo in KDE.

If it starts to index all your /home and Documents files it can take a lot of time and resources

PS :

Code: Select all

# equo q installed tracker

Sabayonino, I originally loaded Sabayon Linux using a KDE LiveCD/DVD. I do run a few Gnome applications, and I suspect that "Tracker" was automatically installed due to dependencies.

Joost, I'm glad you appreciate what little humor I express. ;-)
