VPN Setup

Post by chazdg99 » Tue Mar 01, 2016 22:30

I am trying Sabayon KDE out and things are going well. I always have used Ubuntu/Mint/Debian OS's. One issue that is tripping me up is setting up my VPN (PIA). I am using https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/VPN_Services. Everything goes well until I get to #9 in which I am told /etc/init.d/openvpn start does not exist even though it does. I have no clue how to proceed.

Any help would really be appreciated as I like Sabayon and want a rolling distro. If this is the wrong place for this post, please direct me to the correct subforum.

Thanks.

The wiki directions are not for a systemd system, which we use. So you can follow along, but have to keep in mind the systemd ways.

So I would imagine it would be like this, as root to enable it on boot:

Code: Select all

systemctl enable openvpn.service
To start it now

Code: Select all

systemctl start openvpn.service
status of service

Code: Select all

systemctl status openvpn.service
systemd reading to get familiar with it:
https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... O:_systemd

I forgot about that issue. Unfortunately, all commands tell me " Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory".

Not sure how to proceed, but I did peruse the link you gave me regarding systemd. Any suggestions are appreciated.
