"Configure ALSA to handle a USB sound card" on the Wiki

Postby feralferrets » Mon Dec 30, 2013 20:41

I was just wondering if this page on the wiki is up to date?

Because some places say that alsaconf, update-modules, and modules.d are all obsolete yet people are still using them?

Gentoo Forums: alsaconf removal
Nabble: Where is alsaconf?

Gentoo Forums: Where is update-modules gone?
Launchpad: the update-modules command is deprecated and should not be used

Gentoo Forums: (8th post down)

I seem to not have either alsaconf (despite having alsa-utils) or update-modules. Also my /etc/modules.d/ only contains a file called .keep and my modules.conf is empty other than comments.

So is there something I'm missing or does the wiki need to be updated?

Since I don't know much about it, I guess that you're right that article on that is outdated.
Wiki in parts needs to be updated, feel free to contribute :)
