can't set custom background -- windows buttons

Postby fjkhf » Sat Sep 14, 2013 13:51

Hello ,

I want to set custom background but if I go to settings ->backround ->pictures , it gives me an empty window (I have images in the pictures folder) and only 'cancel' button active.
I also copied the images to /usr/share/backgrounds folder but still nothing.

Is there a way to solve this problem? Also, what about a slide show for backrounds?

Thanks!

----------------------EDIT----------------

Also , I managed through the dconf-editor , to set the minimize and maximize buttons , but in the window which opens the files (file manager?) ,the buttons don't appear.
How can I change it?

I am using GNOME.

Not sure what DE you're using, but from KDE desktop:
right click on a neutral area of desktop
choose "folder settings"
At the "view" sidebar tab:
choose layout "Folder"
Wallpaper "Image"
Then choose "Open" button
Locate and select your picture
Hit "apply"
Hit "okay"

Sorry , I forgot to mention.I am using GNOME.
The problem is that it should have the button "Select" active in order to add folders.
