PostgreSQL Problem

Postby vfafou » Tue Aug 27, 2013 21:43

Hello!
I have a problem with PostgreSQL 9.2.
I have installed all required packages but when:
Code: Select all
vasilis@vf-notebook ~ $ /usr/lib/postgresql-9.2/bin/postgres -D /var/lib/postgresql/9.2/data

it returns:
Code: Select all
postgres cannot access the server configuration file "/var/lib/postgresql/9.2/data/postgresql.conf": Permission denied

Note that it is a fresh PostgreSQL installation. The file postgresql.conf has been placed in the path required by me manually and I have changed its permissions so vasilis can read and write it.

I have tried all pg documentation cases, all Gentoo forum suggestions but the problem still persists.

Thank you in advance!

Try those commands as root instead of user.
I know this is gentoo but have a look at this.
