Remmina & VirtualBox

Postby vn1980.ca » Thu May 09, 2013 13:25

Hi
I have recently migrated to Sabayon

I am finding that Remmina RDP is not working well
Gnome-RDP works well, however I had to log off if I have to use my PC.

VirtualBox always gives the 1908 Error
I had to type every time the below set of commands to make it functional

equo install virtualbox-modules#`uname -r`
depmod -a
modprobe vboxdrv
modprobe vboxnetadp
modprobe vboxnetflt

Could some one guide me how to get rid of these two problems

You need to add the modules to the configuration file /etc/conf.d/modules in order to tell the operating system to load them automatically at boot. See the SL (Sabayon Linux) Wiki for full details of how to install VirtualBox properly: HOWTO: Using Virtualbox

Dear Sir
Thanks for the reply
I found that I have no permission even as a Root.

[email protected] ~ $ su
Password:
localhost vn # /etc/conf.d/modules
bash: /etc/conf.d/modules: Permission denied
localhost vn #

Could you advise me as to how to proceed further

You have to edit the file, not run it. As stated in the Wiki article:

Code: Select all
# nano /etc/conf.d/modules

Better
Code: Select all
# nano -w /etc/conf.d/modules
because the -w option prevents line-wrapping. Shall I edit the wiki accordingly?

The lines are not long in that file, but go ahead if it doesn't confuse beginners.

Done.
I should revise the article in the future to apply a consistent look …

I don't wanna open another thread. I'm experiencing the same problem but I've done everyting in the wiki, I installed sabayon on a new laptop and did everything in the wiki (as always) and I still receive the message (as indicated above).

/etc/conf.d/modules
Code: Select all
# You can define a list modules for a specific kernel version,
# a released kernel version, a main kernel version or just a list.
# The most specific versioned variable will take precedence.
#modules_2_6_23_gentoo_r5="ieee1394 ohci1394"
#modules_2_6_23="tun ieee1394"
#modules_2_6="tun"
#modules_2="ipv6"
#modules="ohci1394"
modules="vboxdrv vboxnetflt vboxnetadp"

# You can give modules a different name when they load - the new name
# will also be used to pick arguments below.
#modules="dummy:dummy1"

# Give the modules some arguments if needed, per version if necessary.
# Again, the most specific versioned variable will take precedence.
#module_ieee1394_args="debug"
#module_ieee1394_args_2_6_23_gentoo_r5="debug2"
#module_ieee1394_args_2_6_23="debug3"
#module_ieee1394_args_2_6="debug4"
#module_ieee1394_args_2="debug5"

# You should consult your kernel documentation and configuration
# for a list of modules and their options.

I'm using the sabayonlinux.org repo, modules and guest-additions are installed as well...I've no clue what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Hallo loverollingrelease.
Such one question...
Which version (which date) of Sabayon did you install on your new laptop?
Because there is a big change in new releases now.
Those new releases need adoptions for VirtualBox then.
Let us know, pls.
