gnome-shell 100% CPU [Solved]

Postby ph03 » Sun May 05, 2013 16:38

Hi!

I updated my sabayon-weekly today (05.05.2013) and after a reboot I notived two things:

1. gdm was rendered weiredly with many graphics errors. I still was able to login
2. more severelt, after login to gnome 3 the gnome-shell binary is eating up all of my CPU (100%)

Has anybody else encountered this problem? I have an nvidia movile graphics chip.
I also saw a thread that lxdm suddenly eats up 100%, too, maybe this is reladed?
Can I somehow revert the update?

J

Hi.
I have the same problem.
It looks related to this:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7013794.html

I didn't apply any Gentoo patch yet, just " kill -9 `pgrep lxdm-binary` " (lxdm is my lm).
Waiting for a Sabayon patch.

The two problems are not related.
You probably have the opengl configuration messed up.
If you have nvidia:
Code: Select all
eselect opengl set nvidia

If you have AMD/ATI:
Code: Select all
eselect opengl set ati

Greate, thank you, that solved it for me. Weird that my opengl profile is messed up
by updates...
