How to install Sketchup? [Solved]

Postby chdslv » Sat May 04, 2013 4:38

I installed Sketchup, but it won't work. It says that it can't enable OpenGl and that ChoosePixelFormat failed.
I have installed Winetricks too. My system is Sabayon 13.04 Gnome.
Thanks for the help.

What graphics chip you have on the system?
post the output of the commands:
Code: Select all
# eselect opengl list
# eselect kernel list
Ciao :)

Your computer offers all features such as hybrid graphics, intel/nvidia.
You must use the 'bumblebee architecture' to switch to nvidia chip and to take advantage of the nvidia acceleration.
You can use the function 'search' on this site or visit: http://bumblebee-project.org/
Good luck. :lol:

My laptop doesn't have NVidia, only Intel and ATI, but only Intel chip is being used.

My laptop actually works better with the Intel video chip. If I try to get the Ati working, I get crashes with the Ati driver. So, would someone know how to get this problem sorted out? I find OpenGl 7.0 is installed by default.

eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
[1] xorg-x11 *
[2] ati
[3] nvidia
chdslv chdslv # eselect kernel list

Does the above result state what type of video chip I am using? Is it the Intel chip?
lspci give me this;
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

glxinfo gives after a long list this;
glxinfo: ../../../../src/mesa/drivers/dri/common/xmlconfig.c:130: findOption: Assertion `i < size' failed.
Aborted

Mesa 9.0 is installed, though
Thanks!

Okay!
I found the solution.
When Sketchup crashes the first time, you open the terminal and write regedit and edit the HKEY_USERS;
HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-21-0-0-0-1000/Software/Google/SketchUp8/GLConfig/Display HW_OK = 1

HW_OK=0 as default, so you have to change it to 1 and restart Sketchup.
Regards!
