Gnome problem with duplicated items

Post by Staszek » Sat Apr 06, 2013 9:57

Hello,

I have clean install of newest sabayon and my gnome got mad. Every time i log in it duplicate desktops, date info and eveything else. Everytime i log in again it gets duplicated once more (now every item is duplicated 4 times!). What is funny that every items have it own properties that doesnt affect it copies. My desktop looks like that:

Of cource my chromium is open only once. What can I do to fix it?

I'm not sure if I understand the situation here, but I'll try.
Can you close the tabs? The x at the right end of each tab should close the tab.
It looks like you have to change the settings in Chrome if you want to change it permanently. At the top of browser screen at the right end there are three horizontal bars. Click on that icon to get to your browser "Settings" and change something in the "On Startup" group.
If you don't want the browser to come up on boot, you need to make changes under the main menu button: "Settings > "System Settings" > "Startup and Shutdown" > "Session Management" > choose "Start with an Empty session".
Or, leave it as is, and make sure you close everything before you shutdown everytime.
I use KDE and don't know much about Gnome, so the details may be a bit different in Gnome.

Thank you for answer.

Problem isn't with chronium only with gnome GUI.
Take a look at this screen, i circle in red duplicated items and give them order number.

http://pastebin.sabayon.org/pasties/store/12409/new.png

Every item that is circled in red should appear only once, not 4 times. How to get rid of that?

Corretly working gnome desktop should look that way:

I think that resolution of your problem might be found there: http://superuser.com/questions/487664/gnome-3-fallback-gnome-panel-multiple-copies-of-all-ui-elements.
From what I understand, you should remove those elements that are replicated.

Since I'm not GNOME user, I can't really say anything about it exept from what I can deduce.

Hope this help.

Is there any fixed solution????

This temporary solution works (dconf-editor), but it's being lost just by doing log-out and log-in again :-(

Additional info:
I am testing Savayon 11. My computer has 2 ATI HD7770 ........maybe is something that just happens for the ati cards.
As soon as I install the missing 220 updates......the 3D will crash and images start blinking somehow....

I was just wondering if fixing this will help before doing the automatic massive update....

Any help, more than welcome.

Cheers,
Iridium.
