Postby nickdanger » Wed Mar 06, 2013 6:24

When I try to run gparted in terminal as su, I get this:

sabayon# gparted

(process:32227): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.
======================
libparted : 3.1

(gpartedbin:32227): glibmm-ERROR **:
unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler:
what: locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid

Did equo libtest, and equo deptest, and they completed without errors.

instead of running from a root prompt use the command gksu gparted from the user and see if that helps

sabayon$ gksu gparted

once you issue that, the password will come up asking for root password

I tried gksu, but about the same result. I think the "locale" file is incredibly picky about letter case and punctuation.

Sabayon ~ $ gksu gparted [graphical password box popped up, I entered the administrative PW]

(process:7298): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.

is the admin.'s passwd the same as your user ?

"sudo" , "gksu" , "kdesu" required user's password

No, the administrative and the user password are different. The PW box asks for the administrative password, so that is what I entered. For a test I tried entering my user password, and got, "Incorrect password... try again".
