fontconfig with xterm

Post by xyz » Wed Jan 23, 2013 14:19

Hello,
I have tried to use fontconfig in order to get powerline for vim running with the following steps https://github.com/Lokaltog/powerline/issues/96 . However it did not work out.

What did I do wrong?

Thank you. I only got it running under gnome-terminal with the following steps:

Code: Select all

sudo wget -cO /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-powerline-symbols.conf https://github.com/Lokaltog/powerline/raw/develop/font/10-powerline-symbols.conf
#$ wget -cO ~/.fonts/PowerlineSymbols.otf https://github.com/Lokaltog/powerline/raw/develop/font/PowerlineSymbols.otf
cp ~/.vim/bundle/powerline-fonts/DejaVuSansMono/DejaVu\ Sans\ Mono\ for\ Powerline.otf ~/.fonts
fc-cache -vf ~/.fonts
sudo eselect fontconfig enable /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-powerline-symbols.conf
1.) open gnome-terminal
2.) Edit -> Profile Preferences -> General -> DajaVu Sans Mono for Powrline

So,what happened?I didn't understand you.
General when you have a problem, prefer to read the official documentation for your distribution.
Usually is the top.
Gentoo and Sabayon wiki is one of the most perfect documentation.Don't copy and paste commands from everywhere in the terminal. And finally first read the man for each commands.
Also when you post the output for the commands in every forum put it inside the

Code: Select all

code
Is more readable for the other users.

Since the sources are hosted on github … why don't you use git?
