Thanks Dave
I gave that a go but it says there is only 1 pagkage to be reinstalled, no dependencies.
Might I ask which dependencies you saw? I'd like to check those.

dirigible,
Sorry about that. I made a little mistake. The command I used to give 4 packages should be:
equo remove kde-wallpapers --pretend
result:
packages that would be removed:
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-startkde-4.9.4 [20.9kB]
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-runtime-meta-4.9.4 [0.0b]
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-data-4.9.4 [1.5MB]
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kde-wallpapers-4.9.4 [74.2MB]

Again, my apologies. Good luck

Dave, please, no need to apologise!
I got into this mess all by myself.

Found these missing...
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-startkde-4.9.4 [20.9kB]
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-runtime-meta-4.9.4 [0.0b]
>> ## [sabayon-weekly] kde-base/kdebase-data-4.9.4 [1.5MB]

Re-installing kde-base/kdebase-startkde-4.9.4 [20.9kB] automatically reinstalled the other 2 and now I have KDE as a login option again.

It's time I stopped messing around too much and just enjoy Sabayon KDE as is.
Appreciate the help.

Thanks.
