vmware-view-open-client

Postby ddeborre » Fri Dec 07, 2012 22:40

I would need to install on sabayon 10 app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client however in entropy I can not find it.

I looked in the gentto portage tree and their it exists, how can I get it installed/build on my sabayon 10 ?

See HOWTO: Safely mix Entropy and Portage.

You can first run
Code: Select all
emerge -pv app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client

to see what would be installed. If any dependencies are needed you should install them with equo. Then run
Code: Select all
emerge -av app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client

to install (both as root). If it's the first time using emerge it will probably sync first. That takes some time.

I tried to run the command emerge -pv app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client and I get the following:
# emerge -pv app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client
WARNING: One or more repositories have missing repo_name entries:

/usr/local/portage/myoverlay/profiles/repo_name

NOTE: Each repo_name entry should be a plain text file containing a
unique name for the repository on the first line.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client".

emerge: searching for similar names...
emerge: Maybe you meant any of these: app-emulation/wine, app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl?

so it seems that app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client allthough when I browse the packages at the sabayon site I can see

app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client-4.5.0.297975-r1
Open Source VMware View Client
source → portage → sabayon | date: 2012-07-03 05:43:54.960000

so it should exist it is indicated in red though, maybe it is still in development.

Is their any way I can get it ?

Founde the issue, I had to perform an emerge --sync first , this updated my portage tree and then I could emerge app-emulation/vmware-view-open-client without any problem.

I followed HOWTO: Safely mix Entropy and Portage. to avoid that entropy would mess with the packages.

Thansk for the information, it was really helpfull!
