Postby hieronimus » Tue Nov 13, 2012 21:08

It is subject. It is possible. Did anyone try this. Only what i found is

http://wiki.hasnoname.de/doku.php/tde:t ... too_gentoo

But it does not help because of avahi dependency. Please help to install TDE.

Sabayon cannot officially support any third party gentoo overlay, but we (the community) will do our best to help out.

That said, I really can't advise installing the Trinity Desktop Environment. I don't think you'll be happy and truthfully I don't believe that DE will survive very long.

But, to attempt to answer your question...why don't you provide us with the exact outfile of the emerge failure? You can install avahi via entropy before installing Trinity if it's as simple as that. I would have thought that the main portage tree would have that covered for you though.

Did you do an 'emerge --sync' before attempting to install it?

Excuse me for wasting your time, but my question as attempt to draw attention to try installation by users not only me. And I expect there will be more global problems, not only in installation Qt3-avahi.

So I will give the output, when I will be at home.

Thank you for answer. Hope for further productive work.

Yes, I did at as
Code: Select all
#eix-sync

What I have just recieve :

Code: Select all
emerge trinity-base/kdebase-startkde -pv

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies - * Digest verification failed:
 * /home/kldov/tde/trinity-base/kdebase-startkde/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild
 * Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
 * Got: 2983
 * Expected: 2883
... done!

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "trinity-base/kdebase-startkde" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- trinity-base/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13::Trinity-Overlay (masked by: corruption)

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

You aren't wasting anybody's time. No need to apologize.

So, there is a masked package. You can unmask it...although it is probably masked for a very good reason.

Code: Select all
- trinity-base/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13::Trinity-Overlay (masked by: corruption)

If you wish to unmask it and risk the consequences, have a look at section 3.c of the gentoo handbook: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/h ... t=3&chap=3

It gives you a very simple example which you should be able to follow easily.

If you do, I won't really be able to support you going forward.

Unmasking will not solve the problem. The problem is that the package manifest does not validate the source tarball:

* Digest verification failed:
* /home/kldov/tde/trinity-base/kdebase-startkde/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild
* Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
* Got: 2983
* Expected: 2883

Regenerating the manifest might fix that:

Code: Select all
cd /path/to/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild
ebuild kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild manifest

or possibly the following with the network disconnected and first having deleted the applicable tarball in /usr/portage/distfiles/ (Portage changes its name) and copied the correct tarball to /usr/portage/distfiles/:

Code: Select all
cd /path/to/kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild
ebuild --force kdebase-startkde-3.5.13.ebuild manifest

But I agree with Stupot on something else: trying to install Trinity is like flogging a dead horse. Especially in SL.
