How to migrate packages from Mint [Solved]

Postby Bandos » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:20

Hi

I've been using LinuxMint for a couple of years but want to migrate to Sabayon. I've used dpkg to create a list of all my installed packages, how would I go about using entropy to install that list (if it is possible to do)?

Cheers

Hi,

welcome in the wonderful world of sabayon/gentoo, because here is no apt/dpkg mechanism and you using mint for a longer time, it is better to install a clean new sabayon iso, this is using USE-flags for stuff, eg. global desktop etc.

best way i think is to look which stuff is needed/missed by you and have a look at packages.sabayon.org.
if there are questions, go to irc to become help

Thanks Stephan,

I thought that might be the case, I was just trying to see if there was an easier way to do it before I put all the work in :)
