Got some more updates yesterday, and it's well and truly broke now.

On the odd occassion that gnome-shell isn't eating 100% of cpu at login, I can login, but not into gnome anymore (using fluxbox atm)

Not that it matters particularly now, but why would I be stuck on kernel 2.6.37. ? Does sabayon not get kernel updates through equo/magneto?

Just in case anybody is interested, I'm 600% sure my problem stems from the inability of the system to accurately read the monitor EDID.
