Rollback file association in KDE [Solved]

Post by msdobrescu » Sat Sep 03, 2011 23:58

Hello,

I've set Calc to open txt files by mistake.
I can't find how to remove this.
Dolphin always display Calc as default text editor, and opens it.
I have removed it from the System Settings file associations, but still appears in menus.
Where should I look for this kind of functionality?
Where are the configuration files?

Thanks,
Mike

I've tried that.
It removed the entry in the dialog, but remained in the Dolphin and it keeps opening text files with Calc.
This is actually why I asked how to do it manually, in the config files.

Here I have started systemsettings from console:

> systemsettings
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
> QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
systemsettings(9776) KMimeTypePrivate::ensureXmlDataLoaded: Missing <comment> field in "application/x-msdownload.xml"
systemsettings(9776) KMimeTypePrivate::ensureXmlDataLoaded: Missing <comment> field in "text/x-component.xml"
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
QPixmap::handle(): Pixmap is not an X11 class pixmap
systemsettings(9776)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:

It looks to stall in process...

After opening again the file associations dialog, the Calc entry is back.

Also, when I first installed, systemsettings did not have the file associations entry.
It magically appeared after. Don't know why.
Later, I've installed Kate. Now, it is not associated to my user, as text editor.
Root have more entries.
It looks like my user settings are frozen for an unknown reason.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Mike

I have created a new user and dropped the old one.
This solved the situation.
It seems that some access rights were missing.
