Macbook Pro Unibody No Sound.

Postby nsillej » Sat Jul 31, 2010 6:01

Ok, I'm fairly new to all the this Linux stuff but I'm trying to learn.

I just downloaded and installed sabayon 5.3. I have a newer Macbook Pro 13" (not the newest 1 release back) and I am unable to get the sound to work. I have played around with all of the sound preferences and also with alsamixer with no luck.

Thanks for your understanding and help.

Did you run alsaconf before running alsamixer? If so, what was displayed?

Good news.
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation ... Models.txt
Code: Select all
Cirrus Logic CS4206/4207
========================
  mbp55      MacBook Pro 5,5
  imac27   IMac 27 Inch
  auto      BIOS setup (default)

You have to edit "alsa.conf"
Code: Select all
gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf

at the end add this entry:
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55

or
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel model=imac27

or
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

I don't know which one is going to work so you have to try all of them. Start with the first one, reboot and see how it works, then choose another one...
