the splash screen at startup no longer appear after upgrade

Postby Xerxes Lins » Thu May 27, 2010 4:41

Hello,

I'm using Google translator. Sorry for possible mistakes in my English.

After updating the Sabayon (kernel and etc), the splash screen at startup no longer appear. In its place there is now only a black screen with information passing.

Is there anything I can do to restore the splash screen during boot?

The theme of the GRUB (blue screen) also disappeared ...

Thanks for any help.

It's been fixed yesterday, it's a bug in lvm2 package (upstream, not our fault), do this, as root:
Code: Select all
equo update && equo install lvm2 && reboot
<after reboot>
equo install linux-sabayon && reboot

Hello.

This solution does generally work on my machine.

But it was a bad deal, because i cannot open a terminal session anymore since then.

Neither on the kdm-login screen, nor in a KDE-Session.

Has anyone any idea how i can fix this?

Greetings

I am sorry lxnay, my information was not clear and led to some misunderstanding. :oops:

My problem is, that I cannot open neither a new terminal session nor a X-Sessions using the CTRL+ALT+F-Key-combination.

CTRL+ALT+F-Key has no effect during a KDE-Session and also not on the KDM-Login-Screen.

mkdir -p /var/tmp had no effect.

Graphical Sessions in Konsole and Yakuake are working perfectly. :D

Greetings
