1. you cannot have ati-drivers and xf86-video-radeonhd installed at the same time (well, you cannot have fglrx kernel module loaded and use radeonhd)
2. post logs (/var/log/Xorg.0.log)

I am using now, although the vesa display is not as distinct as when I used fglrx.

Exactly... :? Vesa does not run so smooth.

A new kernel featuring KMS for Intel enabled will be out soon.

Please, can you predict, how long it may take to wait for a update? I really like Sabayon and I do not see any other alternative distro for me...

I had to use sabayonlive-tools in safe mode to record the var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Thank you,

I would plead "guilty" if I had deliberately done it, but I didn't...

After the last updates, there were many things changed in my xorg.conf file that I had never seen before, but they looked plausible, so I left them (even though something broke my X server).

While I was collecting the Xorg.0.log using the sabayonlive-tools (sabutil menu) I went ahead and used menu option 3 to "regenerate Sabayon xorg.conf" (file). It generated something very different from the xorg.conf that was causing me problems, so I did a minimal edit to it, adding my monitor "modeline" parameters for my custom display resolution (in the monitor section) and rebooted. I would say my display is now the best it has ever been. The regenerated xorg.conf specifies the ATI device driver, which works great with my Radeon HD3300 video.

Thanks for putting me on the right track.
