virtualbox errors

Postby lizzibet » Thu Apr 01, 2010 5:44

it's back again...

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary.

tried running the command in a terminal:

[email protected] ~/Desktop $ VirtualBox
WARNING: The VirtualBox kernel modules are not loaded.
Please load all the needed kernel modules by:

for m in vbox{drv, netadp, netflt}; do modprobe $m; done

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.

Have you added the modules to your /etc/conf.d/modules? There's a good howto here:

modprobe vboxnetflt
FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.33-sabayon/misc/vboxnetflt.ko): Invalid module format

i tried both those option, through portage and entropy and neither works

Do you have VirtualBox Guest Additions installed? If you are not running SL as a guest OS inside a VirtualBox session in another OS then you don't need VirtualBox Guest Additions installed. If you do have app-emulation/virtualbox-guest-additions installed then uninstall it and repeat the procedure given in SL wiki article HOWTO: Using Virtualbox. See also the thread Virtual Box can't insert module [Solved].
