trouble installing playonlinux

Postby kingpeng0318 » Thu Mar 04, 2010 16:20

I entered sudo emerge -av playonlinux just like the playonlinux official site says.
But emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "playonlinux". showed up every time I tried.
I cannot figure out a way to satisfy that.
Can anyone tell me how to??
Thanks very much!

Why not just using entropy our main package manager?

Code: Select all
equo install playonlinux --ask

you can use entropy
as root
Code: Select all
equo install playonlinux

or using portage :

sync portage first

as root
Code: Select all
emerge --sync && emerge plaonlinux

Thanks a lot.
but why I always get catching complete and then nothing happen??

before anything else, update entropy:
Code: Select all
equo install entropy equo sulfur --nodeps

(usually you shouldn't use --nodeps, but entropy got updated a lot recently, so
considering the dependencies it could give some problem)

after that update gcc:
Code: Select all
equo install gcc --relaxed

(--relaxed is in order to not bring too many dependencies)

now retry with playonlinux

and please see our wiki on the package managers

your emerge probably didn't work as you didn't update the package list

emerge --sync

and also note
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=19812

package managers are vital to learn
