password login ?fails

Postby djnzlab1 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 15:42

HI,
Installed to Drive B, set up XP as primary on A Grub runs flawlessly,
Boot into Sabayon and Can't log in.
Admin Log in fails, I typed in my Name, my user name , and the password was stored x4,
And it will not allow access sabayon is the a simple fix when I boot
up on CD to mount sabayon and edit users without reinstall.

HI,
I couldn't edit without a reinstall , I even tried to mount from CD,
SO I reinstalled Sabayon 64 , and made sure to add a extra login this time, not sure if its a fix or a fluke.
but I am logged in... Wow this new version is smooth.
Love it.

Try using Ctrl-Alt-F1 (or Ctrl-Alt-F2, F3 etc. to F6) to get to a console and a command prompt, and then log-in as the root user. If you can go that then use the following to change the password for your own username (which I assume below is djnzlab1):

Code: Select all
# passwd djnzlab1
New password:
Retype new password:
passwd: password updated successfully
#

Then you can use Ctrl-Alt-F7 to get back to the GUI log-in screen, or alternatively reboot from the command line:

Code: Select all
# reboot

djnzlab1, you should not make multiple threads for the same topic...
